Income Tracking

Monitor income sources — manual entries or bank transactions — with expected vs actual analytics and trend charts.

Overview

Income Tracking lets you monitor all income sources — both from Plaid-synced bank deposits and manual entries. It provides month-over-month trends, per-source breakdowns, and expected vs actual comparisons.

Adding Income

Click + Add Income on the Income page to open the Add Income dialog. Choose one of two modes:

Enter manually

Fill in the description, amount, date, and optional source/employer. Toggle This is recurring income to set a frequency and starting date so future payments appear in your cash-flow forecasts.

From a transaction

Search your bank transactions by description or merchant. Selecting a transaction pre-fills all fields. Any existing transactions in your history that share the same source pattern are also marked as income automatically. Optionally add a recurring schedule for future forecasting.

From a transaction detail

Open any transaction from the Transactions page, then click Add as Income in the Details section. The dialog opens pre-filled with that transaction’s details so you can confirm and optionally set up a recurring schedule.

Income Sources

  • Bank-synced — Transactions pulled from Plaid that you or a rule have marked as income. Shown with a Bank badge.
  • Manual — Income entries you created directly, including backfilled recurring transactions.

Income Rules

Define expected recurring income (e.g., "Paycheck from Acme Corp, $3,200 biweekly"). The system compares actual deposits against these rules to flag missed or unexpected payments. Rules are available on paid plans.

Removing income

  • Bank-synced sources — Removing marks the transactions as non-income but leaves them in your transaction history. New matching deposits from your bank are not affected and will need to be re-marked if desired.
  • Manual sources — You can either remove from income tracking (keeps the transactions) or permanently delete the manual entries.

Analytics

  • Summary cards — Current month, last month, and average income at a glance.
  • Income over time — Line chart showing monthly income with expected overlay from your recurring records.
  • Source breakdown — Per-month breakdown by income source shown as chart tooltips.
  • Notifications — Optional in-app alert when income is received.
