Transactions
View, search, categorize, and manage all your transactions in one place.
Overview
The Transactions page is the central ledger for all financial activity. It combines Plaid-synced transactions from linked accounts and manual entries into a unified, searchable list.
Features
- Search & Filter — Search by merchant name, description, or amount. Filter by date range, category, account, or source (Plaid/Manual).
- Categorization — Assign or reassign categories to transactions. Plaid transactions come with auto-suggested categories.
- Manual Entry — Add transactions that aren't captured by Plaid (cash payments, etc.).
- Bulk Actions — Select multiple transactions to categorize or delete at once.
- CSV Upload — Upload transactions from a CSV file for accounts not linked via Plaid.
- Quick Entry — A dedicated fast-entry page for adding transactions on the go.
Transaction Rules
Transaction rules automatically rename merchants or descriptions for matching transactions. Configure them in Settings → Transaction Rules or create them inline from any transaction's detail panel.
- Merchant Rename Rules — Match a merchant/payee name and replace it with a cleaner display name. Useful for turning cryptic bank strings like "SQ *COFFEE SHOP 4912" into "Blue Bottle Coffee".
- Description Rename Rules — Match a transaction description and replace it with a readable label. Useful for generic bank codes like "POS DEBIT 1234" or "ACH CREDIT EMPLOYER".
- Non-destructive — Rules set a display override without replacing the original bank data. The original merchant name and description are always preserved and visible in the transaction detail panel. A Renamed badge indicates an override is active.
- Rules can be applied immediately to all existing transactions that match the pattern.
- Rules can be enabled or disabled at any time without deleting them.
- Both rule types can be created directly from the transaction detail panel using the Create Merchant Rename Rule or Create Description Rename Rule buttons.
